Symptoms of Chemical Reactivity Syndrome (CRS)

CRS is, simply defined, adverse reactions to artificial and naturally-occurring chemicals in the food and environment.
In addition to edema-related weight gain and difficulty losing the weight, CRS sufferers may typically “experience one or more of the symptoms below. Most CRS sufferers experience varying symptoms depending upon the particular chemical and their level of sensitivity.

  • Sudden, dramatic, unexplainable weight gain
  • A lack of success in attempts to lose weight using the traditional weight-loss methods of moderating calorie intake and regular exercise program
  • Craving foods that cause adverse reactions, known as Dirty Cravings, especially in the days immediately following consumption of these foods
  • Edema (fluid retention), including angiodedema, heat edema (including hot showers and exercise), inactivity edema (such as during sleep), and especially lymph edema (stemming from the lymphatic and immune system irregularities), among others
  • Tendonitis, joint pain, or problems of the knee or foot that stem from long-term edema
  • Swelling of the hands, fingers, feet, or face, especially the eyelids
  • Swelling of gum tissue that may lead to infection
  • Swelling of tongue or throat or difficulty swallowing
  • Swelling or tenderness of lymph glands
  • Pain or sensitivity and yellowing or pitting of skin with slight touch pressure, especially at the ankles, thighs, legs, or buttocks
  • Skin irritations or abnormalities
  • Overheating, especially during sleep
  • Insomnia or sleep disturbance
  • Disturbances in mood, such as episodes of anxiety, nervousness, irritability, and depression.
  • Confusion or difficulty concentrating
  • Hyperactivity (common in children and if CRS-related, can be addressed more effectively and with less side-effects than the typical prescription drugs)
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, especially in people with asthma or other respiratory disorders
  • Diarrhea or watery bowel
  • Headaches
  • Ear aches or infections of the inner ear
  • Sinusitis
  • Development of new sensitivities or adverse reactions to food and environmental chemicals previously tolerated
